I grew up in northwestern Nepal, in the Limi Valley. It's a remote, mountainous region steeped in Tibetan culture. As a six-year-old boy, I entered a Buddhist monastery. At 18, I left my home region to go to Kathmandu. My sister Pema, who now manages the Kathmandu View Hotel, and other siblings were already living there.

I worked as a porter and guide on trekking tours and had the opportunity to explore many different regions of Nepal. At the Kathmandu View Hotel, I worked alongside my sister Pema, looking after guests, and for two years I worked as a hotel manager in Pokhara. During this time, I made many friends with tourists from Germany and other European countries. I cherish these connections.

Since 2016, I have lived in Germany with my wife, Katrin Tamang. Even though I now live far from my homeland, my heart will always be there. I want to support my country and help the disadvantaged and poor people there.

​

That's why my wife, along with some mutual friends, and I founded the association Himalaya Happiness Hunter e.V. This gives us the opportunity to initiate aid projects in Germany.

 

Through direct contact with my family, my acquaintances and our partner organization, the Ngima Dawa Foundation, we can ensure that our help reaches the people in need directly.
